Sarasota is a city located on the southwestern coast of the U.S. state of Florida

Sarasota is a city located in Sarasota County on the southwestern coast of the U.S. state of Florida. The area is renowned for its cultural and environmental amenities, beaches, resorts, connections to the Ringling family, and the Sarasota School of Architecture. The city is located in the southern end of the Tampa Bay Area, north of Fort Myers and Punta Gorda. Its current official limits include Sarasota Bay and several barrier islands between the bay and the Gulf of Mexico. Sarasota is a principal city of the Sarasota metropolitan area, and is the seat of Sarasota County.

The islands separating Sarasota Bay from the gulf near the city, known as keys, include Lido Key and Siesta Key, which are famous worldwide for the quality of their sandy beaches. The keys that are included in the boundary of Sarasota are Lido Key, St. Armands Key, Otter Key, Coon Key, Bird Key, and portions of Siesta Key. Previously, Siesta Key was named Sarasota Key. At one time, it and all of Longboat Key were considered part of Sarasota and confusing contemporaneous references may be found discussing them.

Longboat Key is the largest key separating the bay from the gulf, but it is now evenly divided by the new county line of 1921. The portion of the key that parallels the Sarasota city boundary that extends to that new county line along the bay front of the mainland was removed from the city boundaries at the request of John Ringling in the mid-1920s, who sought to avoid city taxation of his planned developments at the southern tip of the key.

The city limits had expanded significantly with the real estate rush of the early twentieth century, reaching almost 70 square miles (180 km2). The wild speculation boom began to crash in 1926 and following that, the city limits began to contract, shrinking to less than a quarter of that area.

FOREVER FLAWLESS Store-UTC Sarasota

The Forever Flawless Store is located in The Mall at University Town Center, also referred to as ‘The Mall at UTC’, is a shopping mall located in unincorporated Sarasota County, Florida just south of the Manatee County line near the community of Lakewood Ranch. It opened on October 16, 2014, and is anchored by Saks Fifth Avenue, Macy’s, and Dillard’s. Several large-scale retailers and major restaurants occupy space at the mall, chief among them Crate & Barrel, H&M, The Cheesecake Factory, Seasons 52, and The Capital Grille.

The Mall at University Town Center began in 2002, when the Benderson Corporation purchased the land and announced their intention to build the land into a regional mall. In 2007, Nordstrom signed a letter of intent to open at the mall. Neiman Marcus and Macy’s signed letters of intent soon after, with a planned groundbreaking in 2008 and a planned opening in 2010. The Taubman Corp. joined the project in May 2008, a 50/50 split with Benderson. In Summer of 2009, the project was placed on hold due to a recession, and the three planned anchor stores pulled out.

On October 15, 2012, a revamped Mall at University Town Center was unveiled. Macy’s rejoined the project, this time joined by Dillard’s and Saks Fifth Avenue. Construction commenced soon after, and the $315 million project officially opened two years later. The mall was the first new-build enclosed shopping mall to be built in more than five years.
