ENGLISH VERSION
Brossard is a municipality in the Montérégie region of Quebec, Canada and is part of the Greater Montreal area. The city of Brossard was founded on February 14, 1958 and was known before then as Brosseau Station, itself part of La Prairie-de-la-Madeleine Parish. Its first mayor was Georges-Henri Brossard. At the very beginning, there were 3,400 inhabitants.
The city has some homes dating from the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, particularly along Chemin des Prairies. Maison Sénécal and Maison Deschamps.
Brossard is the commercial hub of the south shore, most businesses located along Taschereau Boulevard, inside Champlain Mall and Place Portobello or at the brand-new lifestyle centre, Quartier DIX30. A particular segment of Taschereau Boulevard near La Prairie and the Saint-Jacques River is home to an exceptionally large concentration of car dealerships offering most available makes and models.
Many parks are scattered throughout the city of Brossard, including Parc écologique des Sansonnets. The parks are connected to the other areas of the city by about 37 km of biking paths.
The city also has a municipal library building connected to its city hall building via an indoor passageway. The Réseau de transport de Longueuil (RTL) serves much of Brossard’s territory as well as the rest of the South Shore. Terminus Brossard-Panama and Brossard-Chevrier. From Terminus Panama there is a regular bus to Montreal Bonaventure Bus Station.
FOREVER FLAWLESS STORE- Champlain Mall
The Forever Flawless Store is located in Champlain Mall a shopping mall located in Brossard, Quebec at the intersection of Taschereau Boulevard and Lapinière Boulevard. Champlain Mall is named in honour of Samuel de Champlain but references the Champlain Bridge that was built 13 years prior to the mall’s opening. Champlain Mall is strategically located in Brossard: on the South Shore’s longest commercial artery Taschereau Boulevard (Quebec Route 134), near Autoroute 10 and adjacent to Terminus Brossard-Panama. Thus, the mall attracts about 6.4 million visitors every year.
After Ivanhoe Corporation submitted a request to the City for the development of land for a shopping mall on September 12, 1960, it took 15 years for the Champlain Mall to be constructed. Champlain Mall was built in three phases.
The first phase inaugurated on October 30, 1975 with a Sears and a Steinberg’s as major anchors. Although the mall itself began operating in October, Sears and Steinberg’s had been opened to the public since the beginning of the year. The second phase took place in 1977 with the arrival of 50 stores along with anchors Miracle Mart (now the site of Les Ailes de la Mode) and Cineplex Odeon (now closed). The final expansion occurred in 1990. The Bay appeared as well as two new mall wings, both leading to The Bay store. An estimate of 50 new stores were added. The appearance of the current food court also happened during that third phase. In 1992, when Steinberg’s went bankrupt, Metro took the space and occupied it until 2002.
